ATHENS 2004 PROGRAMME

Day 1 Sunday 10th October

09.00Hrs Depart Dublin Airport
15.30Hrs(Local Time) Arrive Athens Airport
Tour past places of interest en route to Hotel.
Evening Meal and Music with Dessie Ronan

Day 2 Monday 11th October


08.30 Hrs Breakfast followed by sightseeing tour of Athens including the Acropolis Hill.
(The Acropolis hill, so called the "Sacred Rock" of Athens, is the most important site of the city. During Perikles' Golden Age, ancient Greek civilization was represented in an ideal way on the hill and some of the architectural masterpieces of the period were erected on its ground.)
18.00 Hrs Return to Hotel for Evening meal and Music with Dessie Ronan.

Day 3 Tuesday 12th October


07.00 Hrs Breakfast followed by Cruise of the famous Greek Islands of Aegina(Aegina, in the middle of the Saronic Gulf, has been at the crossroads of cultures and rival actions for many thousands of years - from the mythical Aiakeans to the second world war), Poros(The island is known for its cobble-stone alleys, traditional architecture, breathtaking pine tree forests and archaeological and historical sites) and Hydra(Practically all the Islands architecture have been preserved along with hundreds of smaller attractive houses. So the impression you receive when stepping off the boat at Hydra is little changed from that you would have seen two centuries ago).
The Evening will be completed by a Greek Folklore Dinner, Dance and Music in downtown Athens.


Day 4 Wednesday 13th October


09.00 Hrs Breakfast followed by sightseeing tour of Athens including visit to Epidavros(The Sanctuary of Asclepius, The most important sanctuary, which was formed mainly during the 3rd and 4th centuries B.C.
In the centre of the enclosure stood the temple dedicated to the healer god Asclepius himself
The open-air theatre stands to the S.E. and is the best-preserved theatre in the whole of Greece. It was the work of the architect Polyklitos Junior (4th century B.C.), seats 14,000 and has amazingly good acoustics.).
18.00 Hrs Return to Hotel for Gala Evening meal and Music with Dessie Ronan.

Day 5 Thursday 14th October


09.30 Breakfast followed by shopping in downtown Athens.
15.00Hrs Depart for Athens Airport.
18.00Hrs Depart Athens for Dublin
